Family Vacations to Colonial Williamsburg

If you are looking for a great family vacation spot that is both great fun and educational, then you may want to consider a trip to Colonial Williamsburg. With so much to see and do, there is bound to be something for everyone.

Come see where America began -- travel back in time almost 400 years and visit Jamestown, Colonial Williamsburg, and Yorktown. Sometimes called Virginia's Historic Triangle, this area is centrally located between Richmond and Virginia Beach, and is one of America's favorite family vacation destinations.

At the Jamestown Settlement explore lifesize recreations of the colonist's fort and a Powhatan Indian village, and tour a riverfront discovery area. While you are here, your family can board replicas of the three ships that sailed from England to Virginia back in 1607.

In Colonial Williamsburg relive American History as it was on the eve of the American Revolution. Colonial Williamsburg has been called America's largest living history museum, and it offers your family a view of Colonial life hundreds of years ago. Over 500 original and carefully reconstructed public buildings, private homes, taverns, and shops, along with 90 acres of gardens and parks make up the historic area.

No trip to Colonial Williamsburg is complete without visiting the Yorktown Battlefield and Victory Center. Come explore the battlefield and fortifications that marked the climactic clash of the American Revolution, where here, on October 19, 1781, the British surrendered in Yorktown.
